RIC 2024. In retrospect.
The Robotics Innovation Challenge (RIC) is an international healthcare-themed robotics competition organized by the National University of Singapore (NUS) Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health in collaboration with NUS Advanced Robotics Centre (ARC) and NUS Department of Biomedical Engineering as Technical Partners! RIC is also part of the prestigious SHADE event and the Singapore Robotics Games (SRG). RIC is officially integrated into the Singapore Robotic Games, which boasts an impressive 31-year history and stands as the largest robotics competition in Singapore for tertiary education students.

Competition Structure
Game #1: Grand Arena
A battlefield for the robots, the strategies, and the intelligence behind. Participants are to build robots that could operate autonomously in the field and complete tasks.
Age: up to 15 YO
Awards:
- Champion: Certificate + cash prize TBD
- 1st Runner-up: Certificate + cash prize TBD
- 2nd Runner-up: Certificate + cash prize TBD
- Excellence Award and Innovative Award: Certificate
Game #2: Technical Competition
A single task to be completed by the specialized robot. There are multiple tasks to choose from. Focus on one aspect and perfect the details.
Age: up to 15 YO
Awards (for each TC track):
- Champion: Certificate + cash prize TBD
- Excellence Award and Innovative Award: Certificate
Game #3: Innovation Design Challenge
A presentation competition for participants with great technological ideas that could bring changes to the world. Themes will be publicized each year.
Age:
- Junior category: up to 12 YO
- Open category: up to 18 YO
Awards (for each category):
- Champion: Certificate + cash prize TBD
- 1st Runner-up: Certificate + cash prize TBD
- 2nd Runner-up: Certificate + cash prize TBD

Pre-competition Training Workshops (Optional)
This optional 3-day workshop is for competition participants who wish to get started and prepare for the competition. It covers basic concepts only. It does not cover content directly related to the competition item or any content that would affect the fairness of the competition. The objective is to lower the barrier for starters and make AI accessible to all.
Participants from SEA countries could contact the RIC publicity partners who could conduct the training and workshop locally. For countries where RIC partners do not conduct the workshop, you may wish to sign up for the workshop in Singapore.
The workshop is conducted on a not-for-profit basis. To cover the cost, we charge a basic fee and accept group booking of size 40 people per workshop. Individual signups is also accepted but ir will only be successful if the booked slot has received more than 20 signups one month before the actual date.

RIC is organized as a satellite event under the NUS SHADE Datathon & EXPO. RIC is also part of the Singapore Robotic Games (SRG).
